Waking Down in Mutuality:
How to Explore This Path

By Saniel Bonder and CC Leigh

If you are attracted to Waking Down in Mutuality, we suggest that you cultivate a specific attitude during your initial investigation. Next, there are two simple but profound practices that will ensure your best possible receptivity to what we're offering. And then there are three tracks for deeper explorations. One attitude, two practices, three tracks.

ONE ATTITUDE AS AN INITIAL FOUNDATION:
DUE DILIGENCE

In the business world, prospective partners in a venture take time to examine the viability of both their potential colleagues and the undertaking itself. This period of examination is called "due diligence." We ask prospective candidates for the Waking Down in Mutuality work to perform a kind of due diligence on our path for as long as they need to before making any serious commitment.

We likewise reserve the right to do our own investigation of their qualifications as candidates. We happily welcome everyone who is suited to the work to come join us, and most who wish to are quite well qualified. But sometimes we need to decline to work with a person because we just don't feel we can properly serve him or her.

So, plan on taking some time, at least several months and up to a year or more, to perform your due diligence on this path. Each of the three tracks of exploration outlined below gives you plenty of opportunities to take things one step at a time. This will allow you and us to clarify to our mutual satisfaction whether we have an auspicious match. Maintaining an attitude of mutual investigation helps both you and us stay focused on the actual work of due diligence. Among other things, it fosters and supports healthy questioning, honoring of doubt and concerns, and willingness not to jump to hasty, naïve, or reactive conclusions.

TWO PRACTICES TO ENSURE YOUR OPTIMAL RECEPTIVITY:
LISTENING & TANKING UP ON OUR TRANSMISSION

Because Waking Down in Mutuality typically appeals to people who have outgrown the usefulness of traditions, teachings, and teachers that prescribe formulaic practices for students to superimpose on themselves, we generally avoid that sort of approach. Instead, our teachers work with students to develop custom-tailored programs that address each student's needs uniquely.

That said, there nevertheless are some practices we suggest that are designed to ensure your reception of a transmission that does three things: (1) helps you Wake Down as naturally as sunshine opening a flower, (2) reveals Mutuality as your most heart-full, intelligent choice for stimulating the how to live with others, and (3) propels you to dare, grope, stumble, persevere, discern, love, err, triumph, and trust your way into continually finding and speaking your truth and living out your utterly unique, divinely human destiny.

In contrast to the extensive lists of practices one encounters in much spiritual work, Waking Down in Mutuality presents only two that we ask you to make your foundation. On that basis, often with the helpful recommendations of one or more Waking Down in Mutuality teachers, you will creatively evolve or adapt to all kinds of practices that feel most appropriate for you at any given time. These are the two primary disciplines of our specific work:

  1. Practice whole-being "listening" inside and out. Listen to your heart deeply. Give yourself time and space as often as you can, hopefully daily, to feel into the impulses and desires that move you, the responses, reactions, and patterns of your heart, mind, and soul, the feelings in your body, the deeper currents of your being. And, in your attention to our Waking Down in Mutuality teachings, take real time to expose yourself to the available books, tapes, and other publications, the many communications on our website, writings by the other teachers, and all personal communications you may have with any of us who are well established in the work. Give yourself the opportunity to use any frustrations that may arise as advantages, allies, and signs that you are making progress in encountering what you will eventually realize is a whole new sensibility and view of reality. When learning something quite new, confusion is the first stage of comprehension.

  2. Tank up on our transmission. Don't assume you already have it intact in your being. Don't assume it's floating around for everyone to breathe at all times. Make it a point, especially at the beginning, of finding every way possible to receive as much of this particular radiant Being-essence as you can. Explore all three of the tracks we describe below. Find out how much spiritual infusion you can receive just through our books and tapes. Attend our sittings, workshops, and seminars whenever you can. Make sure especially to cultivate direct, personal contact, optimally face to face but at least by phone and email, with one or more authorized teachers of Waking Down in Mutuality and with other advanced practitioners as well, particularly authorized mentors.

Compared to intricate, sophisticated exercises you might have learned in other sciences of transformation, these two disciplines may appear rudimentary. Please don't be fooled. To make a computer analogy, they provide the essential elements Being requires of us to upgrade to a new kind of "operating system" for living. Then, on the basis of that new whole-being worldview, we can creatively develop or adapt our own "software applications" of many distinctive, ever-changing disciplines personally tailored to our individual situations. That's what Waking Down in Mutuality involves for serious explorers.

THREE TRACKS FOR YOUR EXPLORATION:
PUBLICATIONS, EVENTS, & RELATIONSHIPS

Over the years Saniel and the other Waking Down in Mutuality teachers have created an increasingly rounded system of tracks for your exploration of our way. Some aspects of each track are necessary prerequisites for certain other opportunities to grow in the total process. Others are, in effect, electives in a potential curriculum that we help you design for yourself.

Please note: You are welcome to explore each of these three tracks to your own heart's content. We'll work with you to give you access to whatever you need that we can properly offer you. We don't expect everyone to find a heart-calling to go deep into the Waking Down in Mutuality school and community of transformation. You are welcome to explore for a while, ground yourself in our approach to some degree, and then take it into your own life and work as you're moved.

At the same time, we do feel we have a state-of-the-science engine here for long-term, divinely human evolution in mutuality. And we hope you and many, many others will find yourselves deeply attracted to our total work for years to come, if not the rest of your lives.

In this marvelous meeting, many of us are going to fall in love with who you are and are becoming, and you with us. It's natural to want to deepen such Heart-connections indefinitely. But, knowing how unpredictable life is, we make room for you to navigate both into our lives and, if and when appropriate, off into other directions, yet optimally still in harmony and with mutual honoring.

The three potential tracks you can take to complete your due diligence on Waking Down in Mutuality are Publications, Events, and Relationships.

Publications

We have a variety of written and audio materials available for you to explore. Each of our publications is full of our transmission of awakening, evolutionary Being-force. They're full of Life! We welcome you to approach them with an open heart-intention to receive that conscious Life and allow it to quicken you, to help you come alive and awake. And you can do this wherever you are, in the midst of your own life circumstances.

Visit the Resources section of this website to find detailed descriptions and ordering information for available books and tapes, as well as audio and video files to download and play.

Events

For sheer ability to give your awakening process a jump start, nothing beats attending an event where there is personal contact with teachers and other awakening beings. There are several options to choose from.

Waking Down teachers in many locations offer sittings, which are regular gatherings for gazing meditation and conversation about our approach. And there are also a variety of workshop-style events that are offered around the country (and occasionally in Europe). You can learn more about these offerings and also find a calendar of upcoming events and sittings on the Events page of this website.

Relationships

The third track for your exploration of how to Wake Down in Mutuality is relationships with other men and women who are qualified to help you make your way. These are, first, the Waking Down in Mutuality Teachers who are dedicated to "riding shotgun" with you as you make your way through your hero's or heroine's journey of awakening and integrating all of Who you are. That image of riding shotgun comes from the old American West, when a man holding a shotgun rode beside most stagecoach drivers. He was there to protect, offer suggestions and guidance, and help however he could. He was not, however, the one holding the reins and driving the coach!

Early in Saniel's work it became clear that the particular catalytic Being-force transmission that began with him was taking hold in other people who were now becoming capable, in turn, of catalyzing awakenings on their own. We were quite delighted that this had happened, because now many more people could be served in this unique way. And indeed this was Saniel's hope, intention, and purpose from the beginning; he never assumed that this work could or should be only his own.

An ever-growing number of these awakened transmitters are now authorized teachers. You are free to contact any of the teachers at any time and begin the mutual getting-to-know that might lead to more committed work together.

Many of the teachers offer sittings and some offer teleconference groups as well, in addition to private consultations and other sessions. Many of them also provide forms of healing or counseling outside their formal Waking Down in Mutuality work, including their own unique workshops and retreats, which they can tell you about when you contact them.

We are also very pleased that we have a group of dedicated mentors who offer voluntary counseling as something like "big brothers and sisters." Mentors have advanced well into their second lives and can offer you feedback and just a very open ear and heart. They work in conjunction with teachers to enrich your opportunities for support and mutuality.

An important third element for your support, should you find yourself moving more deeply into alignment with this Way, are the therapists who understand the Waking Down orientation. While awakening catalyzes new understandings of our Conscious nature, it also precipitates new plunges into the depths of our broken zones, and it is very valuable to have a conscious therapist as an ally, available on call for those times when you want that sort of support.

You can request a current Resource List of teachers, mentors, and therapists by sending an email to or by phoning our office toll-free at 1.888.741.5000.

Rounding out our recommended support system are peers on the path. These are other men and women like you who are waking down into their divinely human lives. You will meet them along the way if you participate in Waking Down in Mutuality trainings and community activities, and you will naturally find affinities with certain individuals and can develop friendships and other connections with them. Presently there are regional communities of people involved in the Waking Down in Mutuality work in the San Francisco Bay Area, Portland, Seattle, central Colorado (Ft. Collins/Boulder/Denver), Albuquerque, Fairfield IA, Washington DC, and northern New Jersey/New York, with budding groups appearing elsewhere, including Calgary, Alberta. But even if you don't live in any of these areas, we encourage you to stay in touch with other practitioners through phone and email connections, and live participation in events (including teleconference phone bridges) whenever possible.

CONCLUSION

By adopting the wise and curious attitude of due diligence, practicing mutual listening and receptivity to transmission, and pursuing connections with our teachings, transmission, and work through each of these three tracks, Publications, Events, and Relationships, you can explore whether Waking Down in Mutuality is a good place for you to focus your growth now or in the near future. We look forward to hearing from you at any time!
